- Verified military service. Stated on their own site or profile and confirmed. A few partners come from other public service, such as the fire service.
- A real body of work online. Their own website with area or base guides, plus an active channel.
- Highly rated. At or near 5.0 with real review volume.
- Established. Years in the market and a team or staff behind them.
- Active license, checked with the state.
- Reciprocal. Partners refer their own clients moving to Hampton Roads to John, the same way he refers his.
- The response standard. A reply within one business day, the first email copied to John, and updates at 30, 60 and 90 days. Partners who slip are removed.

How does John King's referral network work?
If you are leaving Hampton Roads, John King introduces you to one vetted partner agent in your destination market and stays your point of contact until you close. The partner agent is held to the network's service standard: a reply within one business day and updates at 30, 60 and 90 days. If you are moving to Hampton Roads from a partner's market, that partner sends you to John. The service costs you nothing; agents pay each other a standard referral fee from their own commission.
Does using a referral partner cost me more?
No. The referral fee is paid between the two brokerages out of the receiving agent's commission. Your price, your commission rate and your contract terms are the same as if you had found the agent yourself.
How are partner agents chosen?
Each partner is checked against a published standard: verified military service (a few partners come from other public service, such as the fire service), their own website with real content, a high rating with real review volume, an established business with a team or staff behind it, an active license, and a written commitment to reciprocal referrals and the response standard. Partners are reviewed every year and removed if service slips.
What if there is no partner in the market I am moving to?
John still finds and vets an agent for you, at any brokerage, using the same standard. Pick your destination on the referral map and send the short form; he will come back within one business day with a name.
Can I use a partner agent and still sell my Hampton Roads home with John?
Yes, and most people do. John lists and sells the home you are leaving, and the partner agent handles the purchase at your new duty station or new city. The two agents coordinate dates so you are not paying two mortgages longer than you have to.
